CapaBunga Cheese Vault For Soft Cheese is a simple and reusable way to store your artisan cheese. Cheese experts agree that the worst possible way to store your cheese is the way we all do it – by wrapping it in plastic wrap. Cheese needs to “breathe” and eliminate excess moisture to maintain its flavor and delay molding just like in a cheese cave. Until now, the only recommended solution for proper cheese storage was to use disposable wrappers or bags.

The Cheese Vault is dishwasher safe however please remove any writing before placing in the dishwasher. If you put the Vault in the dishwasher with writing on it the heat from the dishwasher will permanently brand the side of the Vault by baking the ink into the sides. 

Having said that it is dishwasher safe, we prefer to scrub out the little cheese crumbs with a sturdy scrubbing brush (or use a chopstick to remove stubborn crumbs) then use the side of a scrubbing sponge and soapy water to remove any writing on the side. We then allow it to air dry upside down.

New to vault

I stored parmesan in vault and it kept great. But I can't get cheese odor out with hand wash. Will dish washer wash take odor away?

Glad you are happy with your cheese vault and thanks for the review and question. Dishwashing should get rid of the smell - Dishwashers are usually hot enough but if that fails you could try baking it in the oven at 160°C (320°F) for an hour.

Greatest invention for queso preservation

Airline crew member and gone for long periods of time. Great way to keep cheese fresher for longer periods at a time

It's ok

I don't see an advantage of this over glass resealable storage. It's expensive, it's too small in height, width, and length. Maybe if it had an optional larger size at the same price...

Thanks for taking the time to review the Vault John. The advantage over glass is that the cheese is not sitting on a flat surface where it would sweat and that moisture tends to produce mold faster. We opted not to make a larger one as most folks tend to only want to store two or three leftover pieces. They are stackable if you need to store more than that which means they don't take up precious room in the fridge. As for the cost there is 18oz of food grade silicone in each vault - a pound of artisan cheese costs $35/lb and up and lots of cheese gets thrown away if not stored properly. The Vault has been endorsed by some of the best cheese producers in the country including Point Reyes Farmstead, Cowgirl Creamery, Tillamook and Cabot.

It works

I drove around for a month with a block of cheese in my cheese vault in my cooler (cross country and back) and when I got home, the last bite was still tasty.
